Black cherry trees have bark that looks like burnt potato chips. Pin cherry trees are a lot smaller and are only about as big around as a tennis ball. On the Allen brook trail as soon as you get on the trail there is a sign nailed to a tree that says pin cherry. The sign is actually wrong. The tree it is nailed
